It makes you fit, brown and beautiful. It also takes you somewhere truly spiritual. It will change your perspective forever. It'll always be a way out. An escape. Something you can do, all over the world: Indonesia, India, Morocco, Hawaii, Chile, Peru, South Africa, Australia, California, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall.

Cornwall. It's closer than you think. Get the right tuition and you can be standing up within an hour of putting on a wetsuit. Within two, you'll have all the principles you need for the week. By then, you'll have the foundations for a new life.

Because the sea is more beautiful than you can imagine. More powerful than a dream. All you have to do is be there.

Place your board in the right place, at the right time and that isn't difficult. Then the sea lifts you like someone lifting your mattress - you jump to your feet and suddenly, you're moving on the rim of something incomparably exhilirating and calming. It doesn't matter how tired you are; it doesn't matter where you come from or who you are. The sea has no prejudices. It will lift you and carry you
into the shore: revived, confident, happy to be whoever you are.

Welcome to democracy. This is the sea. It isn't frightening, it isn't even deep. It's only chest-high. The water's warmer than you think.

You're wearing a wetsuit and the surfboard floats. You won't sink. You can hang on.

With a little effort, it can reward you beyond your wildest hopes. And it you haven't got any of those, then it's time you went surfing.
