Chapter 3- Passing on the message And so it was that nearly two years later, after many adventures and several lifetimes, that the makers of Plunge could finally screen it to the public for the first time. One warm summer's evening in Farringdon, one-hundred and twenty people crammed into a basement room to watch a video projection of the film on a slide-screen. It was a triumph. The room erupted. The crew collected cards with the comments the viewers had written and found that people were jabbering excitedly about that they had just seen. After such a long journey, it seemed that 'Plunge' had finally come home. The
film-makers were in a daze. They had made a boys'
film about drop-outs and its most enthusiastic supporters were turning
out to be women. The movie they had made for everyone but which
had seemed so particular to them, had turned out to be about everyone
after all... |
